"This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.” - 1 John 1:5 NLT
On a hiking trip a few years ago, a friend and I found ourselves caught on a trail after sunset without flashlights. The darkness was absolute—we couldn’t see more than a few inches in front of us. Every step felt dangerous, as roots and rocks became hidden hazards. But when someone from another group passed us with a bright lantern, everything changed. Their light revealed the way forward, and suddenly, what had felt impossible became manageable.
The Bible tells us that God is light—pure, flawless, and full of truth. His light illuminates our path, exposes what is hidden, and brings clarity to our lives. In Him, there is no darkness at all. This means there’s no deceit, no corruption, no shadow of sin in His nature.
But this truth isn’t just about God’s character; it’s also about how we live. If we claim to follow Christ, we’re called to walk in His light, allowing His truth to guide every area of our lives. This means being honest about our struggles, turning away from sin, and living in a way that reflects His holiness. Walking in the light doesn’t mean we’re perfect—it means we’re open to His refining work in us.
Are there any areas of your life where you’ve been walking in the shadows, trying to hide from God’s light? Remember, His light doesn’t just expose—it heals and transforms. When we step into His light, we experience freedom, forgiveness, and the joy of living in fellowship with Him.
HIGHLIGHTED QUOTE: "God’s light not only exposes—it heals, transforms, and sets us free."
TIP OF THE DAY: Take a moment today to reflect on your life. Is there anything you need to bring into God’s light—an unconfessed sin, a fear, or a struggle? Surrender it to Him and let His truth bring you peace.
TALKING TO GOD: Father, thank You for being the light that guides my life. Help me to walk in Your truth and turn away from anything that keeps me in darkness. Thank You for loving me enough to reveal what needs to change and for giving me the strength to follow You. Shine Your light in me so that others may see You through my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
