Peter Kaye speaks with Julia Roberts of Habitat for Humanity Anchorage about how they help low-income families make the dream of homeownership a reality. Roberts walks us through the application process including a mandatory financial literacy course which gives the partner family a better understanding of how to manage their personal finances. She takes us on a typical build site and speaks to the comradery between volunteers themselves and the future owners. Roberts also spotlights other programs Habitat offers for home repairs and certain applicational builds like wheelchair ramps, etc. She shares how the Restore is a way in which you can support Habitat during your own DIY project.
