A full slate of nominees for the 53rd annual GMA Dove Awards were revealed yesterday (8/10) across 36 categories. Chris Tomlin, Brandon Lake and Evan Craft were among the artists who helped unveil honorees in select categories during a special livestream event.

Reigning K-LOVE Fan Award Male Artist of the Year Matthew West and multi-K-LOVE Fan Award-nominated collective Maverick City Music lead this year’s GMA Dove Award nominations with seven honors each.

Along with a nod for Christmas/Special Event Album of the Year for his 2021 holiday release, We Need Christmas, West is nominated for his outstanding songwriting contributions to Anne Wilson’s “My Jesus” and “Mamas (feat. Hillary Scott),” Tasha Layton’s “Look What You’ve Done” and Casting Crowns’ “Scars in Heaven.” In addition, he’s a contender for Songwriter of the Year (Artist).

Maverick City Music is nominated for a slew of recordings in their growing discography, including Jubilee: Juneteenth Edition, Tribl Nights Atlanta, Venga Tu Reino and A Very Maverick Christmas. Furthermore, “Jireh (Radio Version)” landed a nod for Worship Recorded Song of the Year, and “Breathe” received recognition in the category of Gospel Recorded Song of the Year. The group is also once again up for Artist of the Year.

Other top 2022 nominees include Wilson, for KING & COUNTRY and Phil Wickham, who each garnered six nods. Additionally, Lake and CeCe Winans received five nominations respectively.
Wilson joins Blessing Offor, DOE, Jordan St. Cyr and Ryan Ellis as this year’s New Artist of the Year contenders. Meanwhile, Winans, for KING & COUNTRY, Maverick City Music, We The Kingdom and Zach Williams will vie for Artist of the Year.
Stewarding the theme of “Sound of Heaven,” the 53rd annual GMA Dove Awards will be held Oct. 18, 2022, in Nashville, Tenn., on the campus of Lipscomb University with an all-new ticketed Music City Fan Experience taking place in the days leading up to the in-person event. Winners are selected by the Gospel Music Association’s professional membership and will be announced publicly when the show airs exclusively on the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) Friday, Oct. 21, 2022 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET.
