Jeanice Lee talks to Teresa Davis, Program Coordinator with Yakima County Child Advocate Program. Davis says their Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) are trained volunteers appointed by the court to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abused and/or neglected. An advocate 18+ yrs must complete training of 30 hrs,, four hours of observation in the courtroom, and pass a criminal background check as well as a Child Protective Services history check. Davis says there is a great reward in watching a child grow to be healthy and stable. Volunteers are needed. Call Keith Gilbertson 509.574.2071 to learn more (yakimacounty.us)
