Jason Craig speaks with Rucker Preston, Executive Director of Family Promise of Bell County in Temple, TX. Rucker discusses Family Promise's mission, which is to empower families experiencing homelessness to achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. He also discusses the common misconceptions and discrimination faced by people experiencing homelessness. Rucker provides insight into their facility, which offers safe and sustainable living for families until they graduate from the program. The organization has grown from serving 57 families in 2020 to now 500 families. He expresses how they are coming alongside the families through their guest family shelter, homeless diversion, and welcome home programs. Rucker provides insight into their biggest project yet, which will keep families that have graduated in the community with the organization (familypromisebellcounty.org).
