Becky Hansen talks with Kristen Bierma, Executive Director of Beacon Hill Alaska; located in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Mat-Su Valley, Soldotna and Homer. Bierma explains that the purpose of Beacon Hill is to support, serve, and encourage vulnerable children within our community and outlines the 3 programs which are Safe Families for Children, Heart Gallery, and the Family Support Centers. Bierma shares research that says it costs the community 1 million dollars for every child that is placed in the foster care program, so the prevention offered by Beacon Hill is good for children, families, and the community.
