Tasha Layton pushes through pain on “Worship Through It.” The anthem of endurance also features guest vocals from Elevation Worship’s Chris Brown and previews Layton’s next highly anticipated studio album. Additionally, the beautifully poetic track premiered exclusively during a Worship First event on K-LOVE’s sister network, Air1.
Alongside Matthew West, AJ Pruis and her husband, Keith Everette Smith, Layton originally penned “Worship Through It” for her inner circle when one of her dear friends was diagnosed with cancer. Praying for a miracle, “Worship Through It” became a lifeline for Layton’s personal community. In the months that transpired, the song took on an entirely new meaning in the wake of her friend’s ultimate passing.
“Now…we’re worshiping through our grief, and we’re worshiping through us receiving the miracle not in the way we expected,” Layton reflects. “I’ve never seen a community trust God more than our community right now. It’s been really inspiring the way that people have leaned in and surrendered; but it’s still hard. I’ve been listening to the song myself and just letting my own song minister to my heart and letting Jesus speak to me through the song. I hope that people can grab onto it and become inspired to worship through whatever situation they’re walking through. [We can] trust in God knowing that He’s faithful, knowing that He’s good and knowing that what the enemy meant for evil, He will always turn around.”
This summer, Layton took “Worship Through It” all the way to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, a bucket list venue for the former Katy Perry backing vocalist. The “Never” singer will follow her Red Rocks debut on the road this fall supporting Danny Gokey and Mac Powell on the “United We Worship Tour,” which also features newcomer Seph Schlueter.
