Josh Wilson "Revolutionary"

In his new song, singer/songwriter Josh Wilson flips the script on the cultural conversation and asks, “Why does kindness seem revolutionary?” In a world divided over a multitude of polarizing issues, Wilson returns to the airwaves to remind listeners that we have more in common than we might realize. In support of the song, Wilson is also encouraging fans to share their “revolutionary” acts of kindness using the hashtag #RevolutionaryKindness.

Although the lyrics feel incredibly relevant to the current state of affairs, Wilson wrote the song with frequent collaborator James Tealy and Steve Fee back in December 2019. In the wake of the global pandemic and racial protests sweeping the nation, "Revolutionary" has suddenly taken on an entirely new meaning.

"Kindness is timeless, but it’s also timely," Wilson shared on a recent Facebook Live. "With all of the terrible things that have happened and are happening, this is just a song that says, no matter what, kindness is always a good idea."

The song has become Wilson’s manifesto of sorts during a season of abundant unrest across the country. A talented lyricist, Wilson and his “Revolutionary” co-writer James Tealy—who’s also written songs for Lauren Daigle and Kari Jobe, among others—are teaming up to teach others how to use their voices for truth through a six-week virtual songwriting course. In addition, Wilson is now offering handwritten lyric sheets for some of his most popular songs in his online merch store—a creative way to get his words out to listeners.

An accomplished multi-instrumentalist, Wilson frequently jumps on Instagram with a “Song Sketch” to break down various aspects of a specific song in his discography, highlighting everything from the gear he uses to looping techniques and vocal tracking. He’s currently in the studio working on new music.

When he’s not putting out fresh tunes in his basement home studio, you can find him upstairs with his wife and four-year-old son playing Mario Kart.
