Elevation Worship throws the ultimate praise party on their new amped-up single, “Praise.” The tribal-inflected anthem was crafted by an all-star cast of writers, including Elevation Worship visionary and pastor Steven Furtick and the group’s longtime primary member Chris Brown, as well as Brandon Lake, Chandler Moore, Cody Carnes and Pat Barrett. Brown, Moore and Lake share lead on the song, which made its radio debut during a K-LOVE First event.
“It’s rooted in Psalm 150,” Brown says of the track. “I love the command that we find there that says, ‘Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.’ So, whether I feel like it, or whether or not I’m having a hard time finding a reason to praise God, I can make it as simple as this: I just took another breath. I’ve got breath in my lungs today, and that is enough reason for me to give thanks and give praise to God.”
The energetic selection closes Elevation Worship’s latest project — the eight-song “CAN YOU IMAGINE?” — and has quickly become a fan favorite throughout the collective’s ongoing “Elevation Nights” tour. Additionally, the song has already made its way to churches around the globe, becoming a staple in Sunday morning worship sets each week, thanks to an uptempo melody and memorable lyrics that draw from familiar stories in the Bible, like the parting of the Red Sea and the crumbling of Jericho’s walls.
“I’ll praise when outnumbered, praise when surrounded. ’Cause praise is the waters my enemies drown in,” the group sings. Then later they chant, “My praise is a weapon, it’s more than a sound. Oh, my praise is the shout that brings Jericho down.”
“Praise” is already a well-known anthem, as evidenced by the deafening volume that meets Elevation Worship when they open their shows with the obvious singalong. Co-writers Lake and Carnes have also been including the song in their respective setlists while on tour. A celebration of God’s power and sovereignty, “Praise” is guaranteed to immediately lift your mood. Listen for it on K-LOVE now.
