Colton Dixon is stepping out in faith on his new song, “Build a Boat.” Immediately charting a stripped-down, campfire-acoustic course, the single quickly escalates into a full-scale, fist-pumping declaration.

Inspired by the story of Noah and his outlandish obedience, Dixon draws on nautical imagery and biblical truth to shape his latest release.
“‘Build a Boat’ is an anthem for anyone willing to stand up or step out for what they believe in,” Dixon shares. “Just as Noah stepped out to construct an ark in the middle of a drought, faith can look a little crazy sometimes. I hope this song encourages you to go beyond what’s comfortable to experience the reward waiting on the other side of crazy faith.”
The “American Idol” alum says his personal “Build a Boat” moment came a few years ago when he was suddenly dropped from his record label. Uncertain of his future and the ability to provide for his growing family (Dixon is a dad to young twin daughters.), he was forced to step out in faith. Certain he was still called to music, the father of two chose to persevere, even if that meant making music independently. Eventually, his persistence paid off, and the Tennessee native landed on his feet. He inked a fresh deal with a new label and released a self-titled EP in 2020 — a five-song set that opened up some surprising mainstream opportunities for the singer and propelled him to the top of the Christian charts with his hit, “Miracles.”

Earlier this year, he embarked on a 39-city run as part of the multi-artist lineup for Winter Jam 2022. This summer, the “Through All of It” hitmaker filled his calendar with festival appearances where he encouraged concertgoers to “Build a Boat” and muster the courage to exhibit crazy faith.
