K-LOVE New Song Feature: "Desert Road" Casting Crowns feat. CAIN

Casting Crowns is traversing parched, desolate territory on their new single, “Desert Road.” The K-LOVE Fan Award-winning band takes a page from the book of Acts for their latest song exploring the story of Philip. In the midst of a season of great revival, God asked Philip to leave and walk an unknown road stretching between Jerusalem and Gaza. While the apostle didn’t know what lay ahead or why he was being moved from a seemingly fruitful scenario to a barren place, he knew he wanted to be obedient.

Along the “Desert Road,” the disciple met an important official and helped him surrender his life to Christ. It turns out, God led Philip down the “Desert Road” and directly toward this tender-hearted man, using Philip to change the eternal address of this servant of the high court. Philip’s “Desert Road” had a purpose after all.

This was the story Casting Crowns frontman Mark Hall had in mind when he wrote the aptly titled “Desert Road” alongside Matthew West and Seth Mosley. Applying the story to our own lives, the talented lyrical trio put themselves in Philip’s shoes admitting we all will be asked to walk our own “Desert Road” this side of heaven — a road often paved with questions and doubts when our surroundings don’t look familiar and the destination ahead is out of view.

“Desert Road” is a song about stepping out in obedience regardless of our limited understanding and trusting that God has a bigger plan at play. The fresh anthem appears on Casting Crowns’ most recent album, “Healer,” and features the band’s former tourmates, CAIN. Moreover, the cinematic visual for the truth-filled track was filmed in the picturesque deserts of Utah.
