New Song Feature: "If I Got Jesus" Ben Fuller

Ben Fuller has everything he needs on new single “If I Got Jesus.” The singer/songwriter gets incredibly vulnerable on the original track as he grafts his own story into every line.

“I’m living out the lyrics to the songs He let me write, and boy what a life, when you live it for heaven,” Fuller offers. “If I got Jesus, I got it all.”

Heavy on upright piano, “If I Got Jesus” could easily be sung in a rural country church somewhere like a hymn of old. Yet, Fuller’s gritty vocal and candid delivery bring the soulful track up to date.

Further elevating the selection, the Vermont native enlisted “American Idol” finalist Megan Danielle for an all-new version, transforming the transparent single into a two-person perspective with Danielle’s sandy tone perfectly complementing Fuller’s deep, gravelly register — neither bothering to round off the edges, making the building ballad all the more resonant.

Moved by Fuller’s song, Danielle covered “If I Got Jesus” on her social platforms. She tagged Fuller, who saw it and, impressed with her performance, invited her into the studio to recut it as a duet. “This song touched my heart because the message is so powerful and relatable. If all we have is Jesus, that’s all we’ll ever need,” Danielle affirms. “Thank you, Ben, for asking me to sing on this with you. You’re so gifted, and I’m honored.”

The initial studio rendering of the track, sans Danielle, first appeared on Fuller’s self-titled full-length debut, which released in 2023. The “Who I Am” singer is set to launch his headlining “If I Got Jesus Tour” later in the year, but beforehand, Fuller will support Zach Williams on the “Revival Nights” tour throughout a run that also features CAIN and Matt Maher.
