Andrew Ripp waves a white flag of surrender on his new song, “Loves Got a Way.” The singer/songwriter allows the easier yoke of God’s love to wash over him like an ocean wave on the pop-centric original.
Ripp wrote the anthemic track with close collaborators Ethan Hulse and Rachael Lampa nearly a year ago but only recently released it. The radio single serves up a preliminary taste of Ripp’s forthcoming full-length project, “The Great Wide Open Wild,” coming this fall. Like many of the other fresh selections included on his highly anticipated album, “Loves Got a Way” invites listeners to lay down their pride and embrace everything a relationship with Jesus offers: healing for pain, beauty for ashes and freedom from shame.
The hope and redemption of his optimistic love-conquers-all ethos is palpable as Ripp delivers a chorus full of poetic lines. Furthermore, the song’s official lyric video captures the carefree release felt across the track as it features clips of Ripp on vacation, enjoying a day at the beach with his daughter, Frances, and Lampa’s son, Jax.
“I hope you guys dig this throwback footage of me and the little Queen on the beach last summer. Right before shooting this video, we had just heard the first mix of this song,” Ripp reveals. “So, for me, this song will always take me back to my happy place on the beach with my fam. Love how songs have the power of transporting us to a place and time.”
The father of two shared the newly minted original live on its release date when he performed as part of the multi-artist lineup for the Kick-Off Concert at the 2024 K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend. His noteworthy duet with Lampa, “Somebody to You,” was also nominated for Song of the Year at this year’s fan-voted ceremony.
Ripp is set to return to Colorado’s most iconic amphitheater later this summer when he takes the stage for “K-LOVE Live at Red Rocks” on Aug. 6, 2024.
