Matty Mullins’ “No Hold On Me” Shuts Down All The Devil’s Lies

It’s not often a member of a secular metal band decides to record worship music on the side. Enter Matty Mullins—an anomaly of an artist who is breaking all the rules and defying every expectation.

As the longtime lead singer of metalcore outfit Memphis May Fire, Mullins rocks hard. However, on his new solo song, "No Hold On Me," he effortlessly helms an up-tempo worship tune that could easily be led in a church service next Sunday.

The song’s lyrics declare war on the enemy’s never-ending string of lies, putting Satan on notice with the announcement that his words hold no power over the children of God. “No more shackles on my feet / The devil’s got no hold on me / Jesus' blood has set me free / The devil’s got no hold on me,” Mullins proclaims on the foot-stomping, choir-assisted track.

The Memphis May Fire frontman wrote the uplifting anthem with Bryan Fowler and Mark Alan Schoolmeesters, giving Mullins the chance to create a song that encourages others in the same way so many truth-filled songs have soundtracked his own personal journey of faith.

“Christian music has been a constant reminder of God’s goodness in my life, so having the opportunity to write songs like this is such a blessing,” Matty Mullins shares. “May the Lord be glorified whenever and wherever this song is played!”

In addition to releasing half a dozen albums with Memphis May Fire over the past decade and performing in excess of 250 concerts a year—including dates across Europe and the U.K.—the singer has also previously released two solo Christian projects, including 2014’s self-titled "Matty Mullins" and 2017’s "Unstoppable."

“No Hold On Me” serves as Mullins’ first solo musical release since “Unstoppable (feat. Jordan Feliz)” became a Top 5 hit.
