"For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son." - Romans 5:10 NLT

Have you ever received a gift that was too good to be true or perhaps it was a gift that just kept on giving? The saving work of Jesus is a gift just like that!

Throughout the New Testament, we are told of all the amazing things that Jesus provided for us through His life, death, and resurrection. In our verse today, the Apostle Paul focuses in on two vital truths that Jesus’ life and death accomplished for us.

First, we see that the death of Jesus restored our friendship with God. I hope you read that right. We are no longer enemies of God but friends! Your sin and my sin broke the relationship we once had with God, but Jesus restored it through His death on the cross.

Secondly, because Jesus lives, so can you and I! Death is not the end for us. Jesus’ coming to earth was intentional, perfectly calculated, and one hundred percent guaranteed to succeed. You can be certain of the salvation that Jesus made possible because it was not based upon what you or I could do but on what Jesus did. His life and death are gifts that keep on giving in this life and throughout all of eternity!

HIGHLIGHTED QUOTE: “Your sin and my sin broke the relationship we once had with God, but Jesus restored it through His death on the cross.”

TIP OF THE DAY: Anytime you see a gift that someone has given you, think about Jesus, who is the greatest gift you have ever been given.

TALKING TO GOD: Heavenly Father, thank You for always knowing just what I need and when I need it. You knew that my greatest need was to be saved from and forgiven for my sins and so that is why You sent Jesus. Thank You that the finished work of Jesus is a continual blessing. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

PAUSE AND REFLECT

  1.  Why is Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection the greatest gift we could have receive?
  2. How is my life changed because of the finished work of Jesus?
  3. Who can I share the gift of Jesus with others today?
