The aftermath of Hurricane Helene has left many feeling unsettled and vulnerable. Yet, as believers, we find comfort in the unwavering strength of God, who remains our steady anchor even in the most devastating situations. In times of fear, destruction, and grief, especially in the wake of such a powerful storm, we can trust that God has a plan amid the chaos. As you navigate this difficult time, here are five prayers to uplift and support you.
1. God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. 2 So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. 3 Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! – Psalm 46:1-3 NLT
Father, I admit I’m scared. All I can see is chaos, and it’s difficult to understand where You are in the midst of the destruction. Help me to lean into You as my refuge and strength, and help me to always remember You are here with me in these troublesome times. Even when it feels like everything is falling apart, lead me to trust in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
2. And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:19 NLT
Lord, it feels like we’ve lost so much through this disaster. Thank You for providing me with exactly what I need, both physically and spiritually. Give me the strength to trust that You will keep providing for me through this tragedy. Help me to always remember Your goodness and faithfulness to me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
3. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; He will neither fail you nor abandon you. – Deuteronomy 31:8 NLT
Heavenly Father, I know You’ve already personally gone ahead of me, and You know exactly what’s going on. Help me to remember You’re not surprised by this disaster. Thank You for promising to never leave me or abandon me even when I don’t understand what’s going on around me. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen.
4. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. 9 We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. – 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NLT
God, You never said this life would be easy. I admit I feel disheartened by the troubles I’m facing and I feel despair. Help me to remember that You are here in the midst of the destruction and the unknown. I don’t know what’s happening right now, but I know You are in control. Thank You for the promise that even though I will face hard times in this life, You will be there through it all. In Jesus’ name, amen.
5. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. – Isaiah 43:2 NLT
God, I’m thankful for Your continued provision in my life. Though I’m going through deep troubles right now, You promise You are with me. Help me to trust in Your plans for me through this disaster. Even when it’s challenging to see past the chaos, help me to fix my eyes on You through it all. I pray all these things in Jesus’ name, amen.
