Incredibly, survivors continue to be found

With nearly 47,000 lives lost and 108,000 people injured by the massive quake that struck Turkey and Syria, our ministry partner Convoy of Hope continues to bring in relief aid and encouragement.

Convoy of Hope is responding in both Turkey and Syria to deliver vital, life-saving aid to survivors.

Shipments of food, water, and other essentials are being sent to the impact zone, and Convoy's International Disaster Services team members are now in Turkey to assist with the distributions.

We just partnered with the Salvation Army and UPS to air freight 40 pallets from our World Distribution Center in Springfield, MO to Turkey. They should arrive tomorrow at the latest.

Clothing, tents, sleeping bags, diapers, and baby formula — all in high demand — are being distributed in communities throughout the region. Fuel is a major concern. - Convoy spokesman Ethan Forhetz

Some incredible rescues are still happening  a week-and-a-half after the February 6th twin quakes.

A 17-year-old girl was rescued Thursday morning, 248 hours after the original quake, from the debris of a collapsed building in Kahramanmaras, a city located near the epicenter.

The girl, Aleyna Olmez, told reporters from her hospital bed that she was well and tried to pass the time by distracting herself. “I had nothing with me,” she said.

Hacer Atlas, a rescuer who was involved in reaching Olmez, told Anadolu: “First we held her hand, then we took her out. She is in a very good condition,. She can communicate. I hope we will continue to receive good news about her.”

Here's more about Convoy of Hope's ongoing mercy mission:

Millions of Turks and Syrians have been displaced by the massive #earthquakes that struck a week ago. Many survivors only have the clothes they were wearing when the earthquakes struck; there is a desperate need for the basics to get them through the winter. Through Convoy of Hope's support, partners on the ground distributed #coats to kids — with a special surprise in the pockets. Read today's update at h.ope.is/3xpbt2f.
