Dallas, Texas (by Billie Wright) - In 2024, devastating wildfires tore through the Texas panhandle, burning over one million acres. Fort Worth native Mickey Lenamon serves as CEO of Texans on Mission.
"We know that when disaster strikes, people need three things. They need food, they need water, they need shelter."
Mickey kick started response for the farmers and ranchers who lost land and cattle. Serving others in nothing new for Mickey, who describes his dad as his biggest influence growing up, "He was a local lay leader and wanted to be involved." Mickey was a volunteer from an early age.

He has since expanded his reach through Texans on Mission. "As a Christian, the Bible teaches us to go out and help our neighbors. As the leader of an organization to see that we can respond to anywhere in Texas, across the United States, or around the world at a moment's notice."
Texans on Mission deployed its volunteers to the Panhandle to help recovery for local ranchers and farmers. Along with resource support, they provided chaplains to pray with locals if needed.
Mickey shares that requests were made for hay for the cattle. Around the same time as the request came in another farmer called saying they were compelled to donate hay. Mickey says it was no coincidence.
During cleanup, many precious items lost in the fire are recovered. Mickey says rings and other items make their way back to the owners thanks to the many volunteers that deployed.
Texans on Mission not only deploys volunteers following disasters, they also provide building and water assistance. The ministry continues to grow and serve both domestically and abroad.
