K-LOVE’s Positive People – by Rafael Sierra, Jr. (complete podcast available) (more Positive People stories)
Going to high school is a high-point in life for many young students. But for some students in need, not having enough food to eat while at school can lead to real academic consequences.
Joey St. John is Assistant Principal at Jellico High School in Tennessee and says their mission is to help these students meet their basic needs by providing hygiene products and a good meal.
“Our teachers, they just want to be the best stewards and take care of the kids that they have in their building every day, and they want to make sure that when they [the students] go home, whether it’s during the week and especially on weekends, they just want to be assured of [the kids] having a meal.” -Joey St. John
