Gracious Hands has been a blessing to hundreds of people in need of transitional housing and other life necessities in the Charlotte, North Carolina, area.
One major goal of the non-profit is to guide single mothers to boost their credit score, save up at least $5,000, and secure a home or apartment.
Dr. Sonja Chisolm founded Gracious Hands nine years ago after God led her to find a path for her own family. Since then, more than 360 women and a thousand children have been blessed with family financial improvement, employment and housing assistance.
Her heart for this project comes from her own very personal experience. “I was a single mom of three by the age of 21- and had I listened to society, there’s no way I would be the executive and founder of Gracious Hands Transitional Housing.” Sonja worked hard, very hard – sometimes 12-hour days – to bring home the money to keep her family afloat. The result: “All three of my children graduated high school and all three of my children attended college. And I did that by working hard, just believing in myself, and just showing my children that we can overcome anything when we put our minds to it.”
Just below, we invite you to listen to our podcast interview with Dr. Chisolm, who shares more about this outreach that has helped so many.
"Our Mission. To provide each Mother, and her children, with resources and solutions to move them from homeless to housing and self-sufficiency and love them back to life."
Gracious Hands helps in many ways, including transitional housing, life skills, therapy, and daycare.
