Some lots of the SYMJEPI epinephrine syringes used for emergency treatment of allergic reactions have been recalled because the needle may clog.
Adamis Pharmaceuticals Corp. has recalled some 0.15 mg and 0.3 mg pre-filled single-dose syringes “due to the potential clogging of the needle preventing the dispensing of epinephrine,” according to an announcement with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
SYMJEPI is used for the emergency treatment of allergic reactions including anaphylaxis to stinging insects, biting insects, foods, drugs and other allergens.
“If a person is experiencing an allergic reaction and/or anaphylaxis and is unable to access life-saving epinephrine due to the syringe malfunction, it can lead to life threatening consequences including death.
The products are packaged in 2-count Pre-Filled Single-Dose Syringes per carton and were distributed nationwide in the USA and directly to customers and/or medical facilities.
US WorldMeds is notifying its customers by email, FDA alerts, and direct outreach.
