(K-LOVE Closer Look) – Do your jeans feel a little tight these days? That bloated, sluggish feeling could be the extra pounds (aka the ‘Quarantine 15’) added to Americans sheltering-in-place with their favorite snacks. Dr. Mimi Secor, nurse practitioner for 40+ years, devised a clever way to get weight-loss and self-care back on track. To help people remember what she calls the ‘8 pillars of health,’ she seizes the eight letters of the word ‘pandemic’ – P.A.N.D.E.M.I.C.
“P is for Planning and Preparing,” begins Dr. Mimi, who didn’t get truly serious about her own weight-management and overall health until her early 60’s. Building on personal success and with a nod to current events, she offers advice corresponding with each of the letters.

Secor was so excited to experience renewed strength and surprising weight-loss in her 60s that she teamed up with her daughter as ‘Coach Kat and Dr. Mimi’ to help other women with similar struggles.
The duo believe in a holistic approach to weight-management, noting most programs don’t address things like getting good sleep or dealing with excessive stress. “You need to fill your body, your soul, your mind and your spirit with everything you need to serve others better.” And as a woman who fully embraces fitness as a senior citizen, Dr. Mimi is convinced that anyone can successfully do something to improve their own health.
“There is a way,” she insists. “It’s never too late. Don’t give up on yourself.”
