For the 11th consecutive year, the Dream Center is partnering with Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitcher Clayton Kershaw to host the Back-to-School Bash. Kershaw will be available at 9:45 a.m. for 15 minutes for any media opportunities before passing out backpacks. Dream Center co-founder Matthew Barnett will be available for interviews as well.

“The Back-to-School Bash is one of the most important events we host for our community each year,” said Matthew Barnett. “It’s important because we realize how expensive it is for many families to get their children ready for school. We don’t want limited access to resources to ever prevent a child from being fully prepared to embrace the next school year and being confident that they are equipped to succeed. This exciting event is an opportunity to help lift a financial burden and make sure the school year gets off to a great start. We want every family in our surrounding neighborhoods to know their children are seen and that we’re here for them.”

The Los Angeles Dream Center is a faith-based non-profit organization located in Echo Park, dedicated to transforming lives and underserved communities in the city of Los Angeles. By offering residential and outreach programs to individuals, families and communities in the areas of homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, domestic violence, education, and human trafficking, the Dream Center is committed to enabling immediate and long-term transformation. The Dream Center welcomes those in need into our community completely free-of-charge with the resources, training, and support they need, regardless of faith, age, gender, orientation, nationality, or any other defining factor.

Kershaw’s Challenge, Ellen & Clayton Kershaw’s charity, has raised over $20 million since 2011 for vulnerable and at-risk children, living in Los Angeles, Dallas, Africa and the Dominican Republic. Their goal is to partner with and work alongside organizations on the front lines of change to make life better for children.
