Long gone are the days of plentiful G-rated movies, and today’s PG-rated films are peppered with political satire, social statements, and inside jokes only the adults would understand (fortunately).

Today, most family friendly films are animated, and kids are left to pull inspiration from talking animals, creepy aliens, and little yellow trouble makers.

What happened to the days of live-action, kid-friendly films like Goonies, Mighty Ducks, or Honey I Shrunk the Kids that we all loved in the 80’s?

Enter 'Dot Conner: Webtective' - who may just bring the kind of fun, laugh out loud, wholesome entertainment your family has been begging for on the big screen. Led by Houston area young actress Gili Gould as Dot herself, this movie is all about the young adventurers, light-hearted friendships, slapstick humor, and real-life kid characters the whole family loved in the peak days of family time at the movie theater.

According to Gili, “There’s no hidden agenda, no dark twist to your favorite storybook, no blood, guts or bad words. Just good clean fun the whole family will enjoy. We hope kids can find some relatable role models in our film for a change.”

'Dot Conner - The Movie' is based on 'Dot Conner: Webtective,' the family friendly series currently airing with huge success nationwide and internationally on a variety of streaming platforms.

While the faith-based series focuses on a kid approach to solving everyday life dilemmas in bite-sized webisodes, the coming movie is a full-length feature film adventure with dueling dilemmas, fun action sequences, and hilarious antics that kids of all ages will enjoy.

Gili shares her heartfelt thoughts with us: "My Christian faith is an important part of everything I do, including acting. I prefer to work on projects that are in line with my values. Sometimes I have to choose to decline auditions that don’t match up with my beliefs, and although this is difficult at times, I’ve learned to understand that my faith is eternal but my status within the film community is ultimately temporary. I want to be a positive influence on young audiences, to be someone I wanted to see when growing up. I want to show kids that being a Christian is so much fun. It’s not just about following all these rules from a big book, but it’s a relationship with someone who WANTS us to have fun and enjoy the world he made FOR US. Working with the Dot Conner team has allowed me to stay grounded in my faith, while creating family friendly entertainment I can be proud of. I cannot wait to share it with audiences of all ages!"

(Season One is now streaming on Minno Kids, Yippee TV, Redeem TV, Tubi, and more)

Not to give away too much detail about the coming big screen project, Gould shares, “Dot finds herself tackling 2 major challenges with the help of her best friends Makaela and Alex: the start of Freshman year, oh and a full-fledged spy mission. There’s a school nemesis, classroom mishaps, high speed chases, secret agents, great escapes, and lots of good clean (and sometimes messy) fun.”

“We’re shooting this movie for the big screen,” Gould says, “because movies like this were meant to be enjoyed with a family sized tub of popcorn in a theater full of people, not just on a couch in your living room. We’ve had so much fun making it, I can’t wait to sneak into theaters to see how much the kids enjoy it!"

And according to Huff Media Productions - the team behind 'Dot Conner: Webtective' - the big screen is where you will find it, with a release date projected for March 2025. According to Andrew Huff, the team has “set out to do something that is seemingly impossible, and that is to bring a fun family adventure to the big screen without using the help of Hollywood. 'Dot Conner: Webtective' has really strong Christian values, but at the end of the day, it’s just a fun mystery adventure film!” Huff adds, “There’s never been a greater opportunity to release a faith-based film for families than right now. Films such as The Sound of Freedom and Unsung Hero with inspiring and important messages have dominated the box office. And good films geared toward families are always poised to dominate theaters.”
