Water Mission has a disaster assistance response team in Turkey assessing emergency safe water, sanitation, and hygiene needs across a 200-mile-long area in the southern region of the country. Our team is reporting entire areas of cities were reduced to rubble after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks destroyed homes, buildings, and roads.
Robert Coronado, with Water Mission's Disaster Assistance Response Team, reports from Turkoglu, outside of Kahramanmaras, Turkey:
Our teams will be moving further south to finish their assessments in the Adana and Haytay regions in the days ahead. Back in our Charleston, S.C. headquarters, we are preparing to ship numerous safe water treatment systems to the region as soon as possible.
