“Whatever your brokenness is, know that God has not left you. He will never leave you."

In the new White Chair Film released by global storytelling organization I Am Second, author, public speaker and Nick V. Ministries Founder and CEO, Nick Vujicic, shares his compelling life story — born without limbs he faced his physical brokenness yet came away with a hope and message of encouragement for the brokenhearted.

Without any medical explanation or warning, Vujicic was born with Tetra-amelia syndrome, a condition characterized by the absence of all four limbs. Three sonograms had failed to reveal complications, and when the doctors first saw him, they profusely apologized for not giving his parents the option to abort him.

“I knew I had no arms and legs, but I didn't think it was such a big deal until the world told me that I was an alien, that I was ugly, that I wasn't good enough,” recalled Vujicic. “And the affirmation-need of knowing that ‘I have value,’ that ‘I have purpose,’ that ‘I am special,’ that ‘there's not another me’ — that was really difficult to believe when it seemed to me that in my life, I was the one who missed out.”

Plagued by his reality, Vujicic struggled to understand his purpose and value. At a very young age, he began to lose hope of ever having a functional and thriving life. Ultimately, Vujicic convinced himself that there was no hope, leading to severe depression and eventually attempted suicide.

But that wasn’t the end. Following a series of unexpected events, it was eventually the biblical story of the blind man that led Vujicic to finally begin to experience something he had been living without for most of his life: hope. Today, Vujicic has delivered more than 3,500 speeches across 78 countries, sharing his powerful life transformation with 9.7 million people face-to-face and 2.8 billion over television — empowering countless people to experience the very source of hope and life, while also encouraging those who already know the boundless freedom found in Christ to share it with others.

“If I don’t get my miracle, I can be one,” said Vujicic. “Whatever your brokenness is, know that God has not left you. He will never leave you. Do not ever underestimate what God can do with your broken pieces. If God can use a man without arms and legs to be his hands and feet, then God can use any willing heart.”
