'We Pray San Diego' Pastors' Group News Conference

On  Saturday, June 20th from 9AM-10AM PST more than 118 San Diego churches and 132 pastors throughout San Diego county, along with over 4,900 people will come together and pray for healing and restoration in our city in a powerful demonstration of hope and faith at We Pray San Diego. The event’s focus will be to pray for breakthrough in the aftermath of COVID-19 and racial division that has threatened to tear our city apart, according to organizers. 

Eight of the 18 local mayors of San Diego, two County Supervisors and over 132 local pastors will be standing together on the streets of our city’s borders, praying and being present in a moment to cry out to God for the changes needed to move America’s Finest City from crisis to thriving in unity, growth and healing. Participating County Supervisors include Jim Desmond and Diane Jacob, Mayors include Mayor of La Mesa-Mark Arapostathis, Mayor of Coronado-Richard Bailey, Mayor of Carlsbad-Matt Hall, Mayor of San Marcos-Rebecca Jones, Mayor of Escondido-Paul McNamara, Mayor of Lemon Grove-Racquel Vasquesz, Mayor of Poway-Steve Vaus,and Mayor of El Cajon-Bill Wells. 

County Supervisor, Diane Jacob shares, “We are all so fortunate to live in a county like San Diego. Let’s rise up and pray so that it can continue to be one of the greatest counties in America.”

“We must use the power of prayer to achieve the true promises of our country. On June 20, let’s come together and pray for God to heal this land, for unity among all people, for justice in our community and wisdom for our elected representatives,” Steve Vaus, Mayor of Poway. 

With social distancing measures still in place, to support the safety of all participants, individuals are encouraged to pray along streets that connect, joining communities, while abiding by CDC and state guidelines, including wearing a face covering and keeping 6 feet apart. People can also participate from their home. 

WHEN: Saturday, June 20th, 9 a.m. - 10 a.m

LOCATIONS: 

Participating cities include but are not limited to Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Coronado, Del Mar, El Cajon, Encinitas, Escondido, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Oceanside, Poway, San Diego, San Marcos, Santee, Solana Beach, Vista.
