Stephen Cox is lead pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Reacting to the passing of pastor, teacher, and author Dr. Charles Stanley this week, he took to Twitter to share a personal story. And we are using it with permission.
“Cool story. In 2018, our church went through a terrible church fire. I lost my entire library and all of my preaching Bibles except one that I had at home. It was such a tough time for me personally because of the personal loss but also watching our church go through that tough time as well.
One day not long after the fire, I was at the church and a UPS guy knocked on our door and said he had a big delivery of boxes for the Pastor. I was curious as to what these boxes were so I opened a box and began pulling out these books from Dr. Charles Stanley. In one of the books was a letter of encouragement addressed to me from Dr. Stanley.
He said he had heard of the church fire and that I had lost my entire library. He wanted to send me all of his books and express his love. I will never forget that act of kindness from such a great man.” Twitter
Dr. Stanley was 90-years-old as he went to his reward. Many in the Christian community worldwide have expressed their appreciation for the founder of In Touch Ministries and so much he did for the Kingdom of God.
