In theaters nationwide on Thursday, October 5 — dramatic feature film presented by Fathom Events tells the story of Mother Teresa of Calcutta through the eyes of a young expectant mother

A powerful new film, “Mother Teresa & Me,” will be released nationwide on October 5, 2023, through Fathom Events. The film has already been acclaimed internationally, received the “Best Film Award” at the Mirabile Dictu International Film Festival in Rome, and promises to inspire audiences across the country.

Directed by Kamal Musale — known for films such as “Curry Western” and “Millions Can Walk” —  “Mother Teresa & Me” follows Kavita, a young English mother-to-be who journeys to Calcutta to escape her pain after being abandoned by her boyfriend after he finds out she is pregnant. She is then inspired by Mother Teresa’s own crisis of faith known as the “dark night of the soul.” Inspired by Mother Teresa’s example of perseverance and compassionate love, Kavita rediscovers hope and purpose. This rare, powerful, and inspirational film shows how we can overcome our own troubles by helping lift the burdens of others.

The film features actresses Banita Sandhu, Jacqueline Fritschi-Cornaz and Deepti Naval, and was inspired by Fritschi-Cornaz’s trip to India and her experience interacting with the poor. Soon after, visionaries Richard Fritschi and Thierry Cagianut founded The Zariya Foundation to finance the making of this feature film based on the vision and messages of Mother Teresa. The foundation aims to inspire audiences worldwide with positive values such as compassion, kindness, respect and love.
