Recently, we heard from Jules Grieve, a mom in Greeley, Colorado. She was excited to share that her son, Zayden (Zig), age 7, was among the young people chosen to share their thoughts about love for Valentine’s Day on a local TV station. In the video that was submitted (see Instagram post below), Jules sat down with Zig and asked him some questions about loving others. Zig simply gave answers from his heart which revealed teachings from the Bible that have taken root.

Jules explains, “In our home we teach ‘God is love.’”

The Bible makes it clear that Christians are to take their cues for living from Jesus, not just for Valentine’s Day, but every day:

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved usand offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” - Ephesians 5:1–2 NLT

So, we asked Jules to share some of her family’s success concepts for parenting and she was gracious to do so:

She says, “Focus all your might to only show love and turn to the Bible to learn what that looks like, what that feels like.

God is Love. He lives and works within you, through you, and all around you. Grow more aware of that fact.

And He gave you the ultimate gift of a never seen, never known, or ever heard before child- a new human being- uniquely raw, genuinely authentic- a fresh life drawn from generations past. See and feel the love they only know and desire to give since they entered the world. And get bewildered by it, drawn to it, wrapped in it.

And as these children grow in a fallen world, focus all your might on teaching them how to operate through the root of our very being: love. The struggle for us all is teaching by example. We are older and more tainted by the fallen world. Therefore, open your hearts to hear this: God’s gifts can be your guide just as much as you are for them.

God made us all. We are God’s children.

Let love be the root.”

“Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” -Matthew 19:14

WHY LOVE?

“Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” -Matthew 22: 37-39

WHO IS LOVE?

“And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” -1 John 4:16

WHAT IS LOVE?

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” -1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Thanks, Jules

To Jules and Zig, we offer a sincere thank you for sharing these personal moments for all to consider.
