As schools are letting out for the summer and students are looking for summer activities, thousands of coaches and athletes are flocking to Fellowship of Christian Athletes Camps across America and around the world. These powerful Camps offer a dedicated place for coaches and athletes to invest in their sport, their team, and — most importantly — their faith.
“There are camps happening at this moment, where athletes are hearing about the love of Jesus, possibly for the first time,” said FCA President and CEO Shane Williamson. “This is why we do what we do, and we pray for God’s presence to be life-changing at all of our camps across the world this year.”
FCA Camps allow coaches and athletes to participate in an exciting, inspiring, and healthy environment in which they can pursue their passion for sports — while also clearly seeing Christ’s passion for them. The emphasis on Christ’s impact on their lives and athletic careers sets FCA’s Camp program apart. To further a coach or athlete’s relationship with Christ both during and after Camp, FCA distributes an FCA Bible to every camper.
Bible distributions are a key part of FCA’s ministry. In 2023 alone, FCA distributed 230,247 Bibles around the world to help coaches and athletes develop a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
FCA Camps are a powerful place to share the Gospel and learn about the power of the Bible. In 2023, FCA hosted 1,042 total camps, with 600 taking place in the U.S. and 442 held internationally, making last year FCA’s largest Camp season to date. In all, more than 110,000 campers participated from around the world, an incredible testament to the organization’s vision and values. In 2024, FCA is anticipating an even greater reach.
FCA Camps offer competitors the opportunity to reach their potential through athletic, spiritual, and leadership training. There are six main types of Camps, including Sports Camps (multi-sport and sport-specific camps); Leadership Camps (developing coaches and athletes to be leaders); Coaches Camps (designed to minister, equip, and encourage); Team Camps (allowing student-athletes to come together to compete); Power Camps (typically for athletes 8-12 years of age); and Partnership Camps (FCA partners with some of the best organizations).
Many professional coaches and athletes have been impacted by FCA Camps, with many giving ringing endorsements for FCA’s influence on their faith journey.
“Right after college, I was a Huddle Leader [at FCA Camp] and that was one of the best experiences of my life. One thing I brought back from camp was a quiet time. We would have it every day. It was like a listening time trying to hear from God and ever since then I have been doing that,” said WNBA forward Adrian Williams-Strong.
NBA Guard Anthony Parker commented, “FCA Camp gives me the opportunity — especially as an NBA player — to share my faith. A lot of kids don’t get to see that side of professional athletics. So, it was an opportunity for me not only to do that, but also to grow spiritually as a Christian, myself.”
Several Camps have already begun this year, while hundreds are set for June, July, and August. For more information about FCA Camps, click here.
FCA’s theme for 2024 is “24/7,” based on Romans 15:13 (CSB): “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” FCA reminds coaches and athletes that their identity and value is found in Christ, rather than their sport.
