Faith-based humanitarian organization LiveBeyond confirms that its base in Thomazeau, Haiti, was attacked by a well-armed violent gang earlier this week. The immediate priority has been the safety of its staff, patients and students, who have all been evacuated to safety. LiveBeyond leadership is working closely with local and international authorities to address the situation.

“The safety and well-being of our team and those we serve is our top priority,” said Dr. David Vanderpool, CEO of LiveBeyond. “We are committed to resuming our regular operations as soon as it is safe to do so and continue our mission to provide essential healthcare, education, and nutritional support to the people of Haiti.”

For the last several years, as violence in Haiti has escalated, LiveBeyond was able to maintain its daily operations under the leadership of local staff, while petitioning international leaders to intervene on Haiti’s behalf. LiveBeyond continues to call upon its supporters and the international community for their ongoing support during this challenging time as it remains steadfast in its mission and committed to providing support to the communities it serves.
