The original Superbook video series was created by the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) back in 1981 and became available in 53 languages. Then in 2009, a more modern version of Superbook was debuted, which is currently plays on Amazon Prime.

The purpose of Superbook is to share biblical accounts in a way children can grasp – and help open topics for discussion with parents. The segments feature two time-traveling children, Chris and Joy, and their robot buddy, Gizmo. They are whisked away to centuries past to see for themselves what well-known biblical figures like Paul, Job, Noah, Esther, and of course Jesus, were going through. The message often relates to difficulties the children themselves are experiencing. After witnessing the Bible event firsthand, Chris, Joy, and Gizmo are whisked back to future times with the faith lesson learned.

Now select segments of Superbook are available in storybook form through a partnership with Charisma House, which is publishing the companion books.

CBN CEO Gordon Robertson explains, "Superbook not only tells the stories of the Bible in ways that today's kids can easily understand-it also disciples children in their faith, teaching them how to apply God's Word to their lives today. We're delighted to reach even more children at younger ages by adding these new storybooks to the Superbook universe."

Marcos Perez, executive vice president and publisher of Charisma House, shares, "Our organizations have a lot in common-complementary strengths and a mutual trust in each other's influence. We are thrilled to launch this storybook series together."

Editor's note: In case you didn't know, at the end of each Superbook video episode there’s a special song, The Salvation Poem. As the episode is recapped, the song simplifies what would be known to some as The Sinner’s Prayer, about starting a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Click below to hear it.
