LOCAL Closer Look: The House of the Good Shepherd - Utica, NY

Peter Kaye speaks with Brian McKee of The House of the Good Shepherd about the growing need of foster parenting throughout Utica and the surrounding areas. McKee states that the number of children needing to be placed in foster homes has tripled in the last few years. He gives insight into what character traits make for a successful foster parent and dispels common misconceptions. McKee stresses the goal of foster parenting is reunification with the biological parents and walks us through the process of becoming a foster parent. He discusses respite care as a great way to see if fostering is right for you.
