Jeanice Lee talks to Jamie Heckerman President & CEO of Special Olympics Arizona. Heckerman says they serve individuals 2+ yrs older with intellectual disabilities in training and competitive opportunities through a variety of different sports across AZ. They offer 400+ events a yr, at various levels of competition in 21 different sports year-round for athletes. All athletes have access to their Healthy Athletes Program which provides free health screenings, education and care for athletes and their Healthy Leap program that provides 8 different lessons such as nutrition, sun safety, hydration etc. Coaches and volunteers’ welcome.
