LOCAL Closer Look: Post 22 Training and Employment for Disabled Adults

Peter Kaye speaks with Christine Simpson founder of Post 22, a local nonprofit organization empowering intellectually disabled adults over the age of twenty-two by providing personalized training and employment. Simpson shares how her son Ben’s extremely rare disease diagnosis was and continues to be the inspiration behind Post 22. She beams as she talks about Ben’s Beans, a coffee shop inside Post 22 that is run entirely by nontypical adults. Simpson discusses the life skills and work skills developed at Ben’s Beans and how the Westboro community has responded to it. She highlights a host of community partners that have come along side Post 22 in providing internships and jobs to their participants.
