Having tested and driven more than 150 cars this year, CarBuzz is thrilled to announce the winners of the 2023 CarBuzz Awards.
“After a stellar 2022 CarBuzz Awards season, the caliber of the competition for 2023 was no less exceptional,” says CarBuzz Editor-in-Chief Roger Biermann. “We witnessed electric become mainstream, icons of the industry have new life breathed into them against all odds, and automakers improve on cars we thought couldn’t get any better. The industry has faced its fair share of challenges this year, but consumers are still winning with a diverse menu of exceptional cars to choose from.”
The winners of the 2023 CarBuzz Awards are:

- Family Fun: 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander - The car for the entire family to enjoy, centered around practicality, comfort, and enjoyment for all.
- Save The Planet Car: 2023 Toyota Prius/Prius Prime - The car that drives the adoption of cleaner, greener motoring through efficiency and ethical material sourcing without compromising desirability.
- Off-Road Warrior: 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 - The best-performing truck or SUV when going off the beaten path.
- Tech Lover's Dream: 2024 Mercedes-Maybach GLS - The vehicle that innovates the most in safety, comfort, and convenience technology.
- Electrified Luxury: 2023 Lucid Air GT - The best combination of luxury, performance, and comfort in a vehicle with an electrified powertrain, hybrid or electric, at any price.
- Best Interior: 2023 BMW XM - The vehicle that takes the greatest strides in interior design, comfort, ergonomics, and build quality relative to its price point.
- Track Weapon: 2024 BMW M3 CS - When road rules no longer apply, this is the car most adept at handling, speed, and driver engagement around a track.
- Affordable Fun: 2024 Ford Mustang - The car that prioritizes driver enjoyment and engagement at an affordable price point.
- Family Luxury: 2024 Porsche Cayenne - The money-no-object family car encompassing luxury, tech, practicality, and driver enjoyment
“This year’s crop of winners represents a mix of established brands and newcomers, signifying innovation from both new and old automakers alike in a rapidly evolving automotive industry,” says CarBuzz Editor-at-Large Jared Rosenholtz.
To be eligible, vehicles had to be available for a press drive or first drive event during 2023. Road car testers have no affiliation to any carmaker; finalists and winners are selected on merit alone.
