Light to moderate snow is expected to continue through Wednesday afternoon across Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
The snow may be heavy at times across northwest Indiana in the morning. Chicago will be spared the brunt of the storm, but will still see snowfall. Most weather models now show the heavier snowfall will fall south of Chicago.

Strong northerly winds may gust as high as 40 mph, which will generate high waves and may cause lakeshore flooding along the Illinois and Indiana shore of Lake Michigan on Wednesday.

Snow will affect travel in an area from eastern Missouri to parts of Illinois, Indiana, southern Michigan and northwestern Ohio on Wednesday, possibly including Chicago. Gusty winds could contribute to blowing and drifting snow at times.
Rain will change to snow across the Ohio Valley as colder air wraps southward into the storm. The snow will taper off Wednesday evening in the Chicago area. Cooler air will come in behind the storm dropping overnight lows into the teens.
