K-LOVE’s Positive People – by Rafael Sierra, Jr. (complete podcast available) (more Positive People stories)
A special little girl from Washington State is making a big difference in helping others understand people just like her. Arianna Graham has Down Syndrome. Her mother Andrea says, despite her different ability, Ariana is very much like other kids her age.
“Yes, there are times when things are hard. Our children do develop slower, but they really are truly, some of the most amazing people in the world.”
Arianna is just 6-year’s old, but at her tender age, she’s doing some amazing things. So far, she’s become an ambassador for Nothing Down, a national advocacy group for Down Syndrome. She’s also appeared on a billboard in New York City Times Square for the National Down Syndrome Society. She’s even featured in a children’s book called "I am Arianna," with the goal of showing the word that she is more alike than different.
“I think people are often given the idea that children with Down Syndrome are a burden or that they’re suffering,” says Andrea. But the truth is, “rocking an extra chromosome” has given her daughter a chance to spread hope, reminding us that with God, all things are possible.
