Brooklyn, New York (by Billie Wright) - Brooklyn teacher Rebecca Cohen noticed some of her students going without books in her classroom. She decided to do something about it.
"The joy and comfort that books bring to people, everyone should have that."

Along with partner, Seema Aghera, Rebecca formed Brooklyn Book Bodega. The organization provides needed resources that improve literacy, build community, and inspire a joy of reading.
Rebecca noticed after children receive books and grow in their reading, they changed. "They start to like to read. They start to do better in school. They start to participate more in class."
Rebecca and Seema are looking to grow children's access and ownership of books throughout the New York City area. "I'm really proud to be able to provide a resource to our city."
