Trail Life USA has announced a partnership with Kirk Cameron’s American Campfire Revival, a ministry project promoting faith, history, patriotism and the Bible to families across the country. Trail Life and Kirk Cameron are bringing messages of hope, love, and courage that will prepare families to share the gospel and be a light in their community.
Cameron observed, “America is a frontier nation. Our history is defined by pioneers — from Pilgrims boldly crossing the ocean and carving colonies out of the wilderness for the sake of religious freedom, to those dauntless settlers who left their homes for the western frontier. Some of my favorite memories are pioneering adventures with my sons — hiking into the mountains with a few friends, camping in the great outdoors and having important conversations around the campfire about things that really matter. My friends at Trail Life embody these ideals.”
Cameron remarked, “In a society that emphatically communicates that boys are a problem and punishes them for their masculinity, it is no wonder they are retreating into their rooms to get lost in the adventures awaiting them in video games, hoping to artificially experience the highs and lows of a win-or-lose challenge. Trail Life invites boys to join an adventure that propels them into leadership roles in their families, churches and communities and equips them to be the kind of godly men who can return our nation to its Christian foundations.”
The initiative is an ideal fit with Trail Life’s mission to build strong families by building strong men. As the largest Christian scouting alternative for boys in America, the organization offers a church-based, Christ-centered approach to discipleship, all within the context of the great outdoors. With over 1,000 troops meeting across the country, Trail Life provides boys crucial time outside to hike, camp, explore, solve problems and develop skills.
Commenting on the partnership, Cameron said, “Across America, over 20,000 men in Trail Life have stepped up. They are gathering around campfires weekly to guide generations of courageous young men to honor God, lead with integrity, serve others and experience outdoor adventure. Through Trail Life, families are engaging with society, transforming hearts and using outdoor adventure as a tool to boldly engage friends, family and the community with gospel truths that will transform all of society and change the nation and the world.”
The project includes Cameron-hosted podcasts, on-location events and YouTube videos delivered by a campfire, all sharing messages designed to equip families to share the Gospel and be a light in their community.
Trail Life CEO Mark Hancock said, “We owe it to the next generation to reach back and lay claim to the time-tested generational biblical values that shaped the best of men, and then to model those values — values like courage, conquest, sacrifice and truth. We need to deliver these values in a culture that is denying the potential in a generation of boys or, more darkly, a society that knows the potential and is out to suppress the difference these values can make. It’s not likely that boys will stumble upon these values on their own. It falls to us.”
Cameron said, “My prayer is that the American Campfire Revival will bring new life, courage and strength to the family of faith. Together, we will light fires of revival within the hearts of our families, friends, neighbors and churches, and as the eyes of the whole world are upon us, they will say, ‘May God do for us in our nation as He has done again in America.’”
