Danny Gokey shares the secret to contentment on his new song, “I Got You.” The heartfelt single finds the four-time K-LOVE Fan Award winner boasting about the power of Christ that lives inside of him — and everyone who calls themselves a follower of Jesus.
“Where would you be if it weren’t for God? I would be lost, without hope, full of fear; but I’ve got God! And with Him, I know that I can get through anything. Because I’ve got God, I’ve been carried through the darkest of days to where I am now,” Gokey says of the message behind the fresh original. “We don’t have to beg for Him to show up. He’s already there, working on our behalf! Claim that promise. Walk in that authority. Believe that He’s by your side, whatever you’re facing!”
“I Got You” is the lead radio offering from Gokey’s fifth studio album, “Sound of Heaven.” The forthcoming 11-track collection is slated to drop July 26, 2024. The “American Idol” alum will support the project with “The Takeback Tour,” a co-headlining outing with Tauren Wells and special guest Ryan Ellis, set to visit a dozen cities this fall.
Earlier this year, the celebrated vocalist joined former fellow “American Idol” hopefuls Colton Dixon and Melinda Doolittle for a special performance honoring the late Mandisa during an episode of the popular talent competition. Additionally, Gokey and Dixon reunited at the 2024 K-LOVE Fan Awards back in May to introduce a special video tribute dedicated to their gone-too-soon friend.
A father of four, Gokey and his wife, Leyicet, are the co-hosts of AccessMore podcast series “Livin’ La Vida Gokey.”
In addition to stewarding a successful solo career, Gokey also regularly leads worship at his home church in Nashville, The Belonging Co.
