“If there was a song that captures the heart of our lives and our family’s decisions to do what we do (and the approach we take), it’s this song. If previous hit “First Things First” was the band’s priority-shifting declaration, “Walk With Jesus” is their line-in-the-sand commitment to follow Him no matter the cost. Sampling lyrics from classic hymn “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” the upbeat anthem opens Consumed By Fire’s latest full-length album.
The group just wrapped their first-ever headlining tour, taking the poignant message behind “First Things First” on the road. They’ll join Jordan St. Cyr on a special 11-city Christmas tour beginning Nov. 30, 2023, in Greenville, Ohio. The holiday outing will cap a phenomenal year for the trio, who was nominated for Group of the Year and Breakout Single of the Year at the 2023 K-LOVE Fan Awards.
Beyond their radio hits and accolades, however, it’s Consumed By Fire’s real-life experiences that have reverberated far and wide as the brothers continue to share their history of grief and perseverance with audiences. “First Things First” and “Walk With Jesus” headline a comeback story of sorts for the Oklahoma natives, who took an indefinite hiatus from music to care for their ailing father. After he passed away, the Ward siblings — more passionate about their calling than ever before — reemerged for a second musical act, poised to carry on their dad’s legacy of sharing the Gospel.
