New Song Feature: "Take You At Your Word" Cody Carnes

Cody Carnes recognizes God as a Promise Keeper on “Take You At Your Word,” his latest radio single. The revered worship leader first released the song as a live take alongside co-writer Benjamin William Hastings on 2022’s “God Is Good! (Live)” — the same project that gave him his first No. 1 as a solo artist with “Ain’t Nobody.”

The triumphant track is a testament to the fact that God can always be trusted because His Word never fails. Carnes’ studio edit is just as exuberant as the original with its bright sonics, cascading guitars and an enthusiastic choir. The fresh selection is currently bundled with a live performance cut from the Worship Together conference, as well as the initial iteration with Hastings, giving fans an array of different ways to engage with the jubilant anthem.

“So excited about this new version of ‘Take You At Your Word.’ This song is so fun to sing,” Carnes shares. “If He says it… I believe it! I’ll take Him at His word.”

The recording’s standout bridge celebrates the faithfulness of God as Carnes declares promises made and promises kept:

You said Your love will never give up

You said Your grace is always enough

You said Your heart would never forget or forsake me

You said I’m saved, You call me Yours

You said my future’s full of Your hope

You’ve never failed so I know that You’ll never fail me

“Take You At Your Word” further establishes Carnes as one of this generation’s foremost songwriters for the global Church. In fact, worship leaders around the country have been including the vibrant song in their Sunday morning setlists since it first debuted nearly two years ago.

Following a slew of international dates, conferences and an unforgettable night at New York’s iconic Carnegie Hall, later this month Carnes and his wife — fellow artist Kari Jobe — are set to join AccessMore podcast hosts Lisa Harper and Levi and Jennie Lusko for “The Incomparable Cruise,” an immersive Bible study and worship experience through Italy, Turkey and Greece.
