New artist Bodie recognizes God doesn’t always speak in the loud, flashy moments. Instead, more times than not, we hear His voice amidst the ordinary tasks of the day…if we’re willing to get quiet and still and really listen. And that’s the sentiment he poetically captures on his debut single, “Whisper and the Wind.”
“I wanted to write a song that reminded us of who God was. Not just in the big moments, not just in the gusty, windy, miraculous, ground-shaking moments; but in the moments that we sometimes — and I’d say, oftentimes — miss, which is in the stillness, the quietness of the whispers of His Spirit,” Bodie shares of the message behind his first Christian radio offering. “I’ve seen God move in some miraculous ways that have just blown my mind. And it’s tempting for me to, oftentimes, expect God to look the same way in one circumstance as, maybe, He has in another. I expect Him to act or move in a certain way because I’ve seen Him demonstrate that power in another way. And it oftentimes can lead to confusion and discouragement, so I wanted to write a song that just addresses that, and say, ‘God, I don’t want to waste my time looking for You in the sky when You’re right here with me.’”
The official music video for “Whisper and the Wind” serves as the perfect accompanying visual as it delivers a highlight reel filled with simple moments shared between Bodie, his wife and their three young children — evidence of God’s goodness in real time.
The alt-pop original appears on the newcomer’s six-track EP, “HAPPY TO BE HERE,” which dropped in 2024. His follow-up, “HAPPIER TO BE HERE,” bows in March and includes a remix of “Whisper and the Wind,” featuring Gracie Binion.
