Television received its own category apart from the previously combined Film & TV Impact for the very first time at the 11th annual K-LOVE Fan Awards. After the votes were counted, “Jonathan & Jesus” was awarded the inaugural TV/Streaming Impact trophy with actor Jonathan Roumie on hand to accept the accolade. Other nominees in the category included “Chasing CAIN,” “Eleanor’s Bench,” “Going Home” (Season 2) and “The Wingfeather Saga.”
Exclusively streaming on Amazon Prime, the four-episode “Jonathan & Jesus” explores Roumie’s backstory, which paved the way for his phenomenal portrayal of Jesus in “The Chosen.” The in-depth documentary-style series looks at Roumie’s career leading up to being cast in the wildly popular television show, his current life as a Hollywood star, the evolution of his personal faith and the impact “The Chosen” is having around the world.
“So grateful to God for the opportunity to give you all a glimpse into my journey and for all the folks who believed in this little project, which began with an invitation to Rome to meet Pope Francis going far beyond what I had ever imagined,” Roumie shared on Instagram when the series dropped in January. “Huge thanks to all who took the time to participate in this wonderful, wild, grace-filled adventure.”
Roumie is currently filming Season 5 of “The Chosen,” which won for Film Impact following Season 4’s theatrical release earlier this year. Season 4’s long-awaited streaming premiere is slated for June 2, 2024, across the series’ official social media channels and on “The Chosen” app.
In addition to walking away a winner at this year’s awards ceremony, Roumie joined singer/songwriter Matt Maher back at the podium to present the final golden “K” of the evening for Artist of the Year to for KING + COUNTRY.
