Is Matthew West capable of writing a song about almost anything at a moment’s notice?
During a recent visit to the K-LOVE Studios in Franklin, Tennessee, the talented lyricist sat down to take part in a songwriting challenge and test his ability to pull words out of thin air.

“On these pieces of paper,” West begins, “are song ideas that I’m supposed to immediately feel inspired and come up with a song. So, this video is probably going to mark the end of my illustrious career. It’s been wonderful.”
That last statement turned out to be far from the truth. With his guitar in hand, West sang on topics like what’s not to love about Mark Hall from Casting Crowns and how frustrating it is when we lose our phone.
Sure, he may not have penned his next No. 1 hit during the session, but the mostly positive and encouraging results are guaranteed to provide a few laughs with the strums of the strings.
