Family vocal group from Northern California originally formed by brithers Tim, Gary, Ron and Steve Archer. They began singing in 1965 as The Archer Brothers. The damily moved to Sounthern California. In 1971 Gary and Ron left and were replaced by Billy Masters and Nacy Short. The trio changed its name to The Archers and began recording in 1972 and apperared at Explo '72. The group performed at the first Estes Park Seminar in 1975. In 1976 The Archers' 18-year olds sister Janice replaced Short. In 1979 the trio performed at the White House and oin 1980 appeared on the musical The Lord's Prayer. In 1982 Janice married John Cruse (Cruse Family), the group disbanded for the first time and Steve began recording as a solo act. In 1984 the trio reunited and disbanded again. In 1991 The Archers reunited and disbanded for a third time. Steve continues as a solo act.
