Rainbows are natural occurrences that appear when the sun reflects water from a recent storm or rain shower. This occurrence filled the skies over the Miami Valley this morning and several Cedarville University faculty and staff members captured the phenomenon from campus.
The rainbow also offers the promise of hope, which was first communicated in the Bible after the flood of the earth. God promised He would not destroy the earth again through a flood, and the rainbow is a symbol of that promise.
"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life." God, Genesis 9: 13-15
